Althoff announces increased transparency in State investments

Springfield, IL – As Illinoisans continue to demand spending and contracting reform, State Senator Pamela J. Althoff (R-Crystal Lake) is pleased to announce that the Illinois Funds investment portfolio – the state’s investments – is now available online and will be updated regularly.

“Taxpayers deserve to know how their tax dollars are being invested,” stated Sen. Althoff.  “By promoting more sunshine on these investments, we not only increase the number of people who are aware of how their tax dollars are being used, but we also ensure that the State does everything in their power to ensure that these funds are measuring up to industry standards.”

Senate Week in Review: July 16-20

Springfield, IL— The Illinois Senate continued moving towards a record overtime session as the gridlock continued, with the Governor, House Speaker and Senate President still unable to reach consensus on a state budget. 

Meanwhile, rank and file Senators negotiated electric rate relief, discussed the state of education in Illinois and urged a block to the Administration’s proposal to use various tax increases to supplement a potential Lottery sale.

Althoff encourages Illinois families to purchase green vehicles
Springfield, IL – Noting the importance of protecting our environment, State Senator Pamela J. Althoff (R-Crystal Lake) is encouraging Illinois families to purchase a hybrid vehicle using a state-funded $1,000 rebate through the Green Rewards program.

Under the Green Rewards program, the first 2,000 consumers who buy a hybrid or other fuel-efficient, low-emissions vehicle and finance their car loan through a participating financial institution will receive a $1,000 rebate per car.  Information concerning this rebate is available on Sen. Althoff’s website at www.senatoralthoff.com.

Week in Review: July 9-13, 2007

Springfield, IL – State lawmakers remained in Springfield during the past week as the Governor convened multiple “Special Sessions” in response to the continued budget impasse. 

Although no significant budgetary progress occurred, the Legislature passed some substantial legislation during the week.
