Senate Week in Review: October 15-21 |

Springfield, IL— The Illinois Senate had a rare week off after completing their fall veto session, overturning a number of measures the Governor had wholly or partially rejected.
The Governor vetoed a total of 81 bills, not including the many budget vetoes that were reallocated after a bipartisan agreement had already been reached between the House and Senate. The legislature overrode 43 of those vetoes and accepted the recommendations of the Governor on two other measures. The remaining bills were either not called for a vote or failed to gain enough support to be overridden. |

Springfield, IL – State lawmakers wrapped up the second week of the 2007 Veto Session, approving property tax relief and a “moment of silence” for school children, but failing to restore millions of dollars in funding for schools, services to the disabled, funding for prison guards and other essential local projects and state services. |

Transit coalition joins Althoff, Tryon to push for McHenry County Roads |

Springfield, IL – Members of the McHenry County Road Warriors, a coalition composed of area leaders and elected officials, joined state Sen. Pamela J. Althoff (R-Crystal Lake) and Rep. Michael Tryon (R-Crystal Lake) in Springfield on Wednesday, October 4, to lobby state lawmakers for McHenry County’s transportation needs.
“McHenry County’s transportation situation boils down to two things – our population growth is outpacing road building and our transportation needs have been neglected by the Administration of this State,” said Sen. Althoff. “Illinois has not had a capital spending plan since before 2002 and this occurrence has left existing roads in dire need of repair and new roads still waiting to be constructed.”
