We are aware of the smoke in the air and are in contact with the National Weather Service and the State Emergency Management Agency.

Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois are experiencing the effects of smoke from the wildfire burning in Northeast Minnesota. The smoke is being dispersed over Wisconsin and Illinois by northerly winds flowing around a center of high pressure over the northern plains. The smoke will persist for the rest of the day and likely into the evening. Expect hazy skies and a distinct burning odor.

Some residents have reported difficultly breathing...irritated eyes and headaches as a result of the smoke. Air quality will likely remain unhealthy at times. Children...elderly people...individuals with respiratory and cardiac problems or anyone engaged in strenous outdoor activities for a prolonged period of time should use caution and remain indoors.
