“Earlier this year, the Governor announced the largest spending, borrowing and tax increase in State history,” said Senator Althoff. “Numerous calls from frustrated business owners have flooded my office. Even though we have received limited information about this proposal from the Governor’s Office, I want to make sure that everyone who is interested is aware of what the Governor is proposing and the ramifications of his plan.”
This forum will include information about the gross receipts tax increase, the Governor’s proposed spending and borrowing increase as well as the 3% payroll tax. Additional topics covered will include the All Kids and Illinois Covered health insurance programs and State education funding.
“The Governor’s tax proposal in its current form is unacceptable as it brings a real threat of business leaving McHenry County while discouraging others from even considering locating here,” Representative Franks said. “This forum will give constituents and businesses that would be directly impacted by a gross receipts tax, an opportunity to offer their input and suggestions. We want the Governor to listen to the concerns of real people who will be in dire financial straits if he keeps forcing his plan.”
This forum is open to the public and everyone is encouraged to attend as this proposal affects everyone.
“I have received a tremendous number of requests from constituents who wish to learn more about the true impact of the Governor’s Gross Receipts Tax proposal. Taxpayers and area businesses need to know how this will affect them. This forum will create a sense of transparency and provide answers to questions surrounding the Gross Receipts Tax,” said Representative Tryon.
The forum will be held on Friday, May 11th at 8:30 AM at McHenry County College Auditorium. This forum is open to the public. For more information, please call Senator Althoff’s Office at 815/455-6330.
