Springfield, Ill. – A budget was approved by the General Assembly and signed into law by Gov. Pat Quinn late Wednesday evening, ending the budget impasse that had threatened a shutdown of state government.

State Sen. Pamela Althoff (R-McHenry) said that although the budget package is not an ideal solution, it prevents the drastic cuts in social service programs threatened by the Governor, ensures state workers are paid and keeps core government services and programs operating without further burdening citizens with a tax increase.
