Sen. Althoff encourages McHenry County veterans interested in learning more about the issues impacting them to attend Veterans’ Legislative Day in Springfield on May 6.

The event is hosted by the Senate Republican Caucus and is open to all veterans and their guests. This year, Veterans’ Legislative Day will be held at the Artisans Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds, in Springfield. The day will begin with check-in from 8:30 – 9:30 a.m., and opening remarks will commence at 11:00 a.m.

Veterans who register for the event will spend the day in informative meetings and briefings by federal and state veterans’ administration officials. Legislators on the Senate Veterans Affairs Committee will also host a listening session, where they will provide the veterans with a legislative briefing on pressing veteran issues, followed by a question and answer period.  The day will conclude with a free lunch and a special reception to honor Illinois’ veterans.

Interested veterans are asked to RSVP by April 24 by registering online at or by calling 217-782-0797. The event is free and open to any Illinois veteran and their guests, but registration is required for the lunch.
