SPRINGFIELD, IL – State Sen. Pamela Althoff (R-Crystal Lake) today expressed concerns the budget proposed by Gov. Pat Quinn focuses too heavily on tax increases rather than spending cuts to programs that led to the current fiscal crisis.

Althoff noted the budget increases state income taxes by 50 percent, which would be the largest tax hike in state history. In addition, the Governor proposed eliminating numerous tax credits for manufacturers and other businesses aimed at keeping jobs in Illinois. " />
