State Senator Pamela Althoff (R-McHenry) releases the following statement regarding Governor Bruce Rauner’s State Budget Address:
“Today, the Governor made it clear again to the General Assembly that the state is in dire need of a balanced budget. The consequences of going without one are to the tune of $11 million per day. That is an injustice to the Illinois taxpayer.
“I was encouraged by the Governor’s request to the Senate to keep working on what we’ve started. The Senate has a good thing going but we must continue our efforts to finding the right solution for the people of this state. We must enact pro-business reforms to get our economy back on track and to create jobs. Growing the economy is the answer to Illinois’ fiscal woes.
“A balanced budget deal cannot be just about raising taxes. That doesn’t work. We need structural changes to move our state forward on a path to prosperity. The time is now. I call on my colleagues to get it done.”
