I have been a long-time supporter of historic preservation, and my passion for keeping Illinois’ history alive is unfaltering. As a way to spotlight the importance of these historic sites, I've decided to frequently visit some of them to highlight not only the historic significance each site offers, but also point to the economic impact they have on the communities where they reside.
I began my Living History Video Series in 2016 where I visited state historic sites located throughout Illinois. At each site, I created a short video to share with all of you. You can watch all of those videos here.
This year, however, I am staying right here in my district to spotlight sites located in McHenry and Lake Counties. My first stop, the Old McHenry County Courthouse located in Woodstock, IL. Built in 1857, it served as the 3rd county courthouse and was used by the government for over a century.
I hope you will follow me on my Living History video tour this year and share my videos with your friends and family and on social media. It is so important we continue to work together to educate Illinoisans about our state’s rich history and continue to encourage tourism to these sites.
